The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Project Controls Specialist for a position located in Denver, Colorado, or Amarillo, Texas.

The Project Controls Specialist will support the Wildfire Mitigation Program by managing reporting requirements associated with state and federal grants.

The role combines financial analysis, grant reporting, project spending and budget monitoring, compliance documentation and coordination with grant and wildfire mitigation teams.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders and should have five to ten years of experience as a Financial Analyst or in a reporting-focused finance role.

Position Overview

This role supports grant-funded wildfire mitigation initiatives by connecting financial reporting, project controls, compliance, documentation, funding requirements and monthly program coordination.

Project Controls Specialist Responsibilities

  • Interpret state and federal grant requirements.
  • Monitor grant reporting deadlines and required deliverables.
  • Track project spending and budgets.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports.
  • Support compliance activities to help ensure grant funding is maintained and effectively utilized.
  • Manage reporting activities associated with the Wildfire Mitigation Program.
  • Monitor cost and budget performance.
  • Organize grant-related documentation.
  • Track key deliverables, deadlines and program requirements.
  • Coordinate monthly touchpoints with the grant team and wildfire mitigation teams in Texas.
  • Review progress, reporting needs and funding requirements with program stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Five to ten years of experience as a Financial Analyst or in a related reporting or finance role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance is preferred.
  • Strong financial analysis background with proven reporting experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proficiency with PivotTables.
  • Proficiency with VLOOKUPs.
  • Experience interpreting financial, contractual or grant-related language is preferred.
  • Utility industry experience is preferred.
  • Grant management experience is a plus.
  • Department of Energy grant financial management experience is a plus.
  • Contract interpretation experience is a plus.
