The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Mechanical Engineer for a position located in Minneapolis, Minnesota or Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The Mechanical Engineer will support capital projects at wind farms across the region, managing a portfolio of approximately a dozen projects per year.

The position oversees the complete project lifecycle at wind facilities, including planning, scheduling, equipment procurement, contractor management, budgeting, forecasting and construction oversight.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders and should have a bachelor's degree in Engineering with three or more years of related experience.

Position Overview

This role combines engineering, renewable energy project management, wind-farm capital planning, contractor coordination, equipment selection, budgeting, forecasting and field construction oversight.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Plan capital improvement projects at wind energy facilities.
  • Develop project schedules and coordinate key milestones.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately a dozen capital projects each year.
  • Support projects from initial planning through construction and completion.
  • Order equipment required for capital improvement projects.
  • Coordinate equipment delivery with project schedules.
  • Manage contractors supporting wind-farm capital projects.
  • Coordinate contractor activities during construction windows.
  • Work closely with site Operations & Maintenance teams.
  • Coordinate project activities around operating wind facilities.
  • Perform limited research and development to evaluate equipment options.
  • Help identify appropriate equipment for project requirements.
  • Manage multi-year capital project portfolios.
  • Support project budgeting and financial forecasting.
  • Monitor project costs throughout execution.
  • Maintain project quality standards.
  • Monitor project schedules and milestone performance.
  • Support cost-control activities across assigned projects.
  • Travel during active construction windows to oversee installations.
  • Provide field support during project implementation.
  • Coordinate project closeout and completion activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline may qualify.
  • Three to seven years of relevant professional experience.
  • Previous project management experience is required.
  • Experience managing engineering or capital improvement projects.
  • Previous renewable energy experience is preferred.
  • Wind energy project experience is strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to solar energy projects is a plus.
  • Exposure to hydro projects is a plus.
  • Exposure to battery storage projects is a plus.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with engineering teams, contractors and site personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel during construction periods.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license is preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
