This is an on-site position in Wausau, Wisconsin. Local candidates are preferred. Candidates must also be willing to work overtime, weekdays and weekends when needed to meet customer service requirements.
The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is looking for a Mechanical Designer for a position located in Wausau, Wisconsin.

The Mechanical Designer will create detailed and assembly drawings of mechanical design components and assemblies using CAD software and standard drafting practices.

The role works closely with engineers to interpret design concepts and convert them into accurate production drawings that support procurement, manufacturing and field installation.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders. Sponsorship is not available, and the position is not remote.

Position Overview

This role combines mechanical CAD drafting, component design, parts selection, manufacturing documentation, drawing management, engineering coordination and peer quality review.

Mechanical Designer Responsibilities

  • Create detailed drawings of mechanical design components.
  • Create assembly drawings using computer-aided design software.
  • Apply standard drafting techniques to project deliverables.
  • Select parts that meet functional project requirements.
  • Design parts to meet functional requirements.
  • Consider component cost when selecting and designing parts.
  • Consider delivery requirements during component selection.
  • Develop parts lists for equipment procurement.
  • Develop parts lists for manufacturing activities.
  • Develop parts lists for equipment installation.
  • Consult with engineers regarding design concepts.
  • Interpret engineering concepts for detailed drawing development.
  • Determine requirements for detailed drawings.
  • Understand manufacturing processes affecting component design.
  • Understand installation processes affecting drawing requirements.
  • Include required manufacturing information in detail drawings.
  • Include required installation information in assembly drawings.
  • Read and understand electrical system schematics.
  • Read and understand electrical system drawings.
  • Maintain the project parts database.
  • Maintain drawing libraries and documentation.
  • Review peer work for correctness.
  • Support engineering teams with accurate design documentation.
  • Maintain drafting quality throughout project execution.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Experience with Autodesk Mechanical Desktop.
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience with Infor.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of geometric tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of welding practices.
  • Knowledge of welding symbols.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic circuits.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic symbols.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical design concepts.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Ability to create accurate detailed and assembly drawings.
  • Understanding of manufacturing requirements.
  • Understanding of installation requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers and project teams.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required.
  • Must be willing to work weekdays and weekends when needed.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
  • Must be available to work on-site in Wausau, Wisconsin.
