The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Field Operations Manager to support the Northeast Region Construction organization.

The role is responsible for leadership of the Field Operations Department, including hiring, onboarding, workforce assignment, mentoring, development, performance management and direction.

This position works closely with project managers, department managers, construction leadership and recruiting teams to ensure qualified field resources are available for EPC and program management projects.

The manager will also support strategic projects, strengthen safety and quality practices, improve department workflows and help develop the field operations workforce throughout the Northeast.

Position Overview

This leadership role combines construction operations, workforce planning, safety, resource management, staff development, project execution, business development and continuous improvement across a regional field organization.

Field Operations Manager Responsibilities

  • Lead the Field Operations Department across the Northeast Region.
  • Ensure department compliance with company safety programs, training and policies.
  • Coordinate with project teams to support strong Safety & Health performance in the field.
  • Support implementation of new safety initiatives.
  • Complete company LOTO certification.
  • Support LOTO certification for qualified superintendents and site managers.
  • Coordinate field staffing needs with Project Managers and Department Managers.
  • Assign qualified Field Operations personnel to EPC and Program Management projects.
  • Coordinate staff assignments with corporate construction leadership.
  • Work with regional department managers and recruiters to hire and retain field personnel.
  • Lead interviews for Superintendents, Site Managers and Section Managers.
  • Serve as Site Manager on strategic or critical projects when required.
  • Respond to emerging field operations needs throughout the Northeast.
  • Lead onboarding and employee development.
  • Coordinate staff training, mentoring and goal development.
  • Manage department performance appraisals.
  • Establish or interpret operational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Safety and Quality teams.
  • Anticipate and resolve construction operations challenges.
  • Support department and Global Practice business development.
  • Participate in client-facing meetings and presentations.
  • Improve department tools and workflows.
  • Assign work based on project needs and personnel qualifications.
  • Review staff performance and resource utilization.
  • Maintain cost-effective field staffing practices.
  • Support recruitment, development and retention of Field Operations personnel.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the department.

Requirements

  • Eleven years of related professional field construction experience.
  • Alternatively, seven years of related experience plus a relevant bachelor's degree.
  • Degree may be in engineering, architecture, construction or a related field.
  • Fifteen years of professional construction management experience is preferred.
  • Industrial construction management experience is preferred.
  • Previous leadership or management experience.
  • Section Manager, Site Manager or Construction Manager experience is valuable.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal leadership skills.
  • Ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers and clients.
  • Competency with Microsoft Word.
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Competency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
  • Sponsorship is not available.
  • Local candidates are preferred or candidates should be open to relocation.
  • This is not a remote position.
