This is an on-site Transmission & Distribution project management role in Austin, Texas. Local candidates are preferred or candidates should be open to relocation. Travel to client and project locations is expected.
The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Transmission Project Manager for a position located in Austin, Texas.

The Transmission Project Manager will manage, direct and coordinate work associated with overhead transmission projects from concept through completion.

The role oversees siting, permitting, engineering, right-of-way, project controls, procurement, construction management, schedule, cost, staffing, risk and project closeout.

The Project Manager will serve as a primary client contact while coordinating multiple technical disciplines and supporting the continued growth of the Transmission team.

Position Overview

This role combines full project lifecycle management, transmission engineering, project controls, client leadership, financial management, procurement, risk management, QA/QC and multidisciplinary coordination.

Transmission Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Manage transmission projects from concept through completion.
  • Coordinate project siting and environmental activities.
  • Manage permitting and planning activities.
  • Coordinate project estimating and engineering.
  • Manage right-of-way acquisition activities.
  • Oversee project controls and reporting.
  • Coordinate bid-phase services.
  • Manage procurement activities.
  • Coordinate constructability reviews.
  • Manage material planning and material management.
  • Coordinate construction management activities.
  • Manage project closeout.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Support repeat business within key accounts.
  • Prepare project proposals.
  • Assist with client presentations.
  • Participate in contract negotiations.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules.
  • Manage project scope.
  • Control project costs.
  • Maintain accurate cost forecasts and accruals.
  • Manage project staffing.
  • Coordinate legal and contractual matters.
  • Manage project risk.
  • Manage project changes and change control.
  • Serve as the primary client point of contact.
  • Coordinate strategic planning with the client.
  • Manage master project scope.
  • Coordinate budgets and project finances.
  • Coordinate subcontracting activities.
  • Manage environmental compliance coordination.
  • Support schedule attainment and facility requirements.
  • Manage all major project communications.
  • Develop project policies and procedures.
  • Establish project controls systems.
  • Implement the project execution plan.
  • Ensure deliverables meet client expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with QA/QC guidelines.
  • Report project progress, cost and schedule metrics.
  • Report procurement and material issues.
  • Report safety or environmental concerns.
  • Coordinate design questions and potential project impacts.
  • Assist with hiring, training and mentoring Transmission team members.
  • Direct activities across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Travel to client and project locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited curriculum.
  • Minimum seven years of related professional experience.
  • At least three years managing engineering projects in Transmission & Distribution.
  • A related master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Professional Engineer registration preferred.
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred.
  • Experience producing transmission design documents.
  • Experience producing transmission construction documents.
  • Knowledge of NESC code.
  • Knowledge of relevant transmission industry codes and standards.
  • Demonstrated experience developing project proposals.
  • Experience with contract negotiations.
  • Experience with project planning.
  • Experience coordinating design teams.
  • Experience managing project budgets.
  • Experience managing project schedules.
  • Experience coordinating with clients.
  • Ability to develop new approaches to project challenges.
  • Proven ability to develop business.
  • Ability to establish strong client relationships.
  • Ability to work with industry, government and public contracts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
