The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for an Electrical Engineer for a position located in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Electrical Engineer will provide substation engineering and consulting services for clients across the United States and internationally.

The role includes physical substation design, protection and control design, grounding and lightning studies, AC/DC auxiliary systems, equipment specifications, quality reviews and short-term construction support.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders. Sponsorship is not available. Local candidates are preferred or candidates should be open to relocation.

Position Overview

This role combines physical substation engineering, protection and control, grounding, lightning protection, auxiliary AC/DC systems, engineering studies, equipment procurement, FAT, QA/QC and construction support.

Electrical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Develop project proposals, scopes of work and conceptual designs.
  • Develop project execution plans.
  • Prepare engineering cost estimates.
  • Prepare labor estimates and project schedules.
  • Develop physical substation yard layouts.
  • Prepare substation plans and sections.
  • Design grounding systems.
  • Design lightning protection systems.
  • Develop control building arrangements.
  • Design interior and exterior raceway systems.
  • Design auxiliary AC/DC power systems.
  • Develop bills of material.
  • Perform protection and control design.
  • Develop relay panel arrangements.
  • Prepare one-line and single-line diagrams.
  • Prepare three-line diagrams.
  • Develop AC schematics.
  • Develop DC elementaries.
  • Prepare equipment wiring diagrams.
  • Develop relay-panel wiring designs.
  • Prepare technical engineering calculations.
  • Prepare grounding studies.
  • Prepare lightning protection studies.
  • Perform AC/DC load studies.
  • Develop equipment procurement specifications.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Coordinate with Civil and Structural teams.
  • Coordinate with Networks and Transmission Line teams.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior team members.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and designers.
  • Communicate regularly with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Perform quality assurance design reviews.
  • Provide short-term construction field support.
  • Support business development and marketing efforts.
  • Support relay-setting activities where required.
  • Support 3D and intelligent design initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Degree must be from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Three years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Consulting experience preferred.
  • Alternatively, Bachelor's degree in Electrical or related Engineering Technology.
  • Engineering Technology candidates must have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
  • Engineering Technology path also requires three years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Alternatively, Master's degree in Electrical Engineering plus two years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong quantitative problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with MicroStation.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D rendering programs.
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis software.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong facilitation and team-building skills.
  • Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Engineer in Training certification preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
