Transmission Engineer

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Transmission Engineer for a position located in St. Louis, Missouri; Akron, Ohio; or Columbus, Ohio.

The Transmission Engineer will design high and extra-high voltage transmission lines ranging from 69 kV through 500 kV, with PLS-CADD serving as a primary transmission line design platform.

The position requires strong attention to detail, ownership of technical work, continual improvement and effective collaboration with project teams and utility clients.

The engineer will prepare construction documents and project specifications, support field construction and help provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering staff.

Transmission Engineer Responsibilities

• Design high-voltage and extra-high-voltage transmission lines.
• Design transmission facilities ranging from 69 kV through 500 kV.
• Perform transmission line design using PLS-CADD.
• Prepare transmission construction documents.
• Develop plan and profile drawings.
• Prepare structure loading trees.
• Prepare foundation assembly drawings.
• Develop project specifications.
• Prepare project design criteria.
• Support engineering coordination during construction.
• Provide field support when construction issues arise.
• Maintain strong attention to technical detail.
• Take ownership of assigned engineering work.
• Continually improve technical work processes.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Coordinate with clients throughout project delivery.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Provide technical leadership to less experienced staff.
• Provide engineering guidance and instruction to junior team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Alternatively, Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
• Engineering Technology candidates must have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Minimum three years of related transmission line design experience.
• A Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering may substitute for one year of experience.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience with project scheduling.
• Experience with project budgeting.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Consulting experience is preferred.
• Utility experience is preferred.
• HVDC experience is a plus.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
• Sponsorship is not available.
• Local candidates preferred or candidates should be open to relocation.
• This is not a remote position.
