Transmission Engineer

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Transmission Engineer for a position located in either Charlotte, North Carolina, or Atlanta, Georgia.

The Transmission Engineer will manage, perform and oversee engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design.

The position includes PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure analysis, loading trees, design criteria, sag-tension calculations, wire blowout, swing-angle analysis and clearance studies.

The engineer will also prepare construction, hardware and material specifications, construction drawings, cost estimates and provide technical guidance to less experienced staff members.

Transmission Engineer Responsibilities

• Perform engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design.
• Lead assigned portions of transmission line engineering work.
• Oversee transmission design responsibilities where required.
• Develop PLS-CADD transmission models.
• Perform transmission line routing.
• Perform structure analysis.
• Develop structure loading trees.
• Develop transmission design criteria.
• Perform sag-tension calculations.
• Perform conductor wire-blowout analysis.
• Calculate swing angles.
• Develop damper recommendations.
• Perform structure spotting.
• Prepare clearance reports.
• Perform conductor and wire selection.
• Prepare construction specifications.
• Prepare hardware specifications.
• Prepare material specifications.
• Support high-voltage overhead transmission line construction.
• Support structure design and development.
• Perform hardware design and selection.
• Support field installation supervision.
• Prepare transmission construction drawings.
• Prepare transmission project cost estimates.
• Coordinate technical design information across project teams.
• Provide instruction to less experienced staff members.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineering staff.
• Support quality and consistency of engineering deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum three years of related transmission engineering experience.
• Experience routing high-voltage overhead transmission lines.
• Experience designing high-voltage overhead transmission facilities.
• Professional certification strongly desired.
• Engineer in Training certification strongly desired.
• Professional Engineer licensure strongly desired.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
