The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Safety Consultant for a position located in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

The Safety Consultant will recognize, monitor and make recommendations to help correct workplace safety hazards through onsite audits, consulting, ergonomic assessments and interventions.

The role supports OSHA and other regulatory compliance while working closely with company management, local safety committees, project managers, employees, contractors and site personnel.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders and should have at least seven years of solar safety construction experience.

Position Overview

This role combines field safety consulting, contractor oversight, incident response, regulatory compliance, daily observations, safety reporting and continuous improvement across solar and utility assets.

Safety Consultant Responsibilities

  • Provide safety consulting services to company clients.
  • Collaborate on safety policy development and safety training.
  • Function as a consultant to local safety committees, employees and management.
  • Support incident response and investigations from the company's perspective.
  • Remain available to project managers for safety questions, issues and resolutions.
  • Communicate corporate safety requirements and expectations to contractors.
  • Facilitate Event Learnings in partnership with company safety teams.
  • Periodically travel to each asset and inspect facility equipment, operations and maintenance processes for compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
  • Maintain professional safety expertise.
  • Participate on internal or external task-force committees related to new regulatory compliance or continuous safety improvement.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current safety regulations and serve as a resource to management and employees regarding interpretation and compliance.
  • Assist site management with contractor safety questions, compliance paperwork and required computer documentation.
  • Complete daily field rounds.
  • Prepare weekly reporting and monthly safety updates.
  • Conduct daily contractor crew observations.
  • Perform incident investigations and Event Learnings.
  • Audit contractor PJBs and JSAs and conduct daily quality observations.

Requirements

  • Seven or more years of solar safety construction experience.
  • CUSP or OSHT/CSHT safety certification is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA compliance.
  • Previous experience working with utility contractors.
  • Experience working directly with site personnel.
  • Strong communication skills.
