The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Substation Construction Inspector for a position located in Amarillo, Texas.

The Substation Construction Inspector will verify that work performed by the prime construction contractor complies with company construction standards and engineering drawings.

The role requires regular field observation, accurate documentation of design changes and effective communication with responsible project stakeholders throughout construction.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders and must have at least five years of substation construction experience.

Position Overview

This role combines substation construction inspection, quality verification, field-change documentation, material compliance and direct communication with project stakeholders.

Substation Construction Inspector Responsibilities

  • Capture and document field changes made to the project design during construction.
  • Communicate project information, field conditions and updates to responsible company personnel on a routine or daily basis.
  • Verify that the construction contractor performs work according to company specifications and construction standards.
  • Confirm that the contractor uses the correct materials in the appropriate locations throughout the project.
  • Compare field construction against engineering drawings and project requirements.
  • Identify discrepancies between field conditions, construction activities and approved project documentation.
  • Maintain accurate observations and communicate issues requiring project-team review.
  • Take appropriate precautions to protect company equipment, materials and customers.
  • Maintain professional conduct while representing the company in the field.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of substation construction experience.
  • Previous Journeyman or Substation Electrician experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of substation construction practices and field activities.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction standards and project requirements.
  • Ability to recognize and document construction changes and discrepancies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, project teams and company stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
